Roulette Games online and in land based casinos are an exciting way to spend your time. There are several types of Roulette and we'll discuss the basics of each. Roulette has a rich history and has been played in one form or another for a very long time. This "Wheel of Chance" game has been popular from the very beginning and it's popularity continues today all over the world. The game of Roulette as we know it today was first introduced in the late 18th century in Europe and although some of the rules have changed slightly, it's basics remain the same.
Roulette is played by one to eight players who place bets on where the ball will land on the wheel. Each player has his or her own color chips so the dealer can tell them apart. Once the bets are made and the dealer calls "No more bets" the wheel is spun and the ball is spun in the opposite direction. When the ball stops, the winner is paid and the game continues.
European Roulette is played with the Roulette Wheel laid out with 37 slots and the Roulette Ball. These slots are numbered 1 through 36 and there is a single zero slot. Having this single zero slot gives this Roulette Game slightly better odds than it's counterpart American Roulette.
American Roulette is the most well known and the most played of all the Roulette Games and is played with a zero and a double zero slot making 38 slots on the wheel. The odds are not quite as good in American Roulette as in European Roulette but still this game is offered in more casinos than any other.
French Roulette has only one zero but offers a small change to the payout rules where players will lose only half of their even money bet if the wheel lands on the zero. This is called the "La Partage Rule".
