Roulette Rules

Before you start to play Roulette you need to know as much about the game and how to play it as possible. If you have a good idea of the rules of Roulette before you jump into playing that alone will raise the odds of your winning over the other players.

First of all a little about the game. Roulette was first played in France in the 17th century. The basic object of the game is to place your bets on the numbers on the table that you think the ball will land on the next time around. There are 38 slots on an American Roulette wheel, including the numbers 1 through 36 and 0, 00. When you are betting you are allowed to bet on any of the above numbers. It is very important that you know the Roulette Rules before you go in so that you can start playing with confidence. There is room at the table for up to eight players at most casinos, you are not playing against the other players you are playing against the house which is represented by the dealer also known as the croupier. The dealer is the person who spins the wheel and takes care of all of the bets and pays out all of the winnings that are earned.

When placing your bet you will notice that your chip color is going to be different from all of the other players' chips, this is so the casino can tell which bets are whose with no confusion. To start the game you place your bets on the number or numbers, any number including the zero. After each player has had their turn to place their bets the dealer spins the wheel and tosses the ball. After the ball is thrown into the wheel players can continue to bet until the ball starts to slow down. After the ball slows the dealer will wave their hand over the board and says no more bets, players are no longer allowed to bet on numbers. When the ball stops on a number the dealer will place a ‘dolly’ on the winning number so that all of the players can tell which number wins. After the dealer pays out the players, the table will be cleared and play can begin again.

There are several types of bets that you can make when playing Roulette including Straight bets, Split bets, Street bets, Corner bets, Line bets, Column bets, Dozen bets, and Even bets. The best odds is to make a Straight bet which will pay you back 35 to 1 on your bet. You want to know as much as you can about the game before you play which includes what kinds of bets you can make and what the best odds are. If you make a Straight bet you will win less often but when you do it is highly worth it. You can always make smaller bets to slowly build up your bankroll, and you will get the satisfaction of winning more often.
